Professional Learning Plan Goal #1

Enhance lesson planning to include differentiated instruction in support of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

Activities:
I will participate in maintaining attendance and conducting assessments for learning (Foun 101). I will also study Learning for All to better understand UDL frameworks and integrate them into my lesson planning. By adopting more strategic classroom strategies, I aim to promote simplicity, safety, and multiple modes of perception and flexibility within the learning environment.

Evidence:
I will collect feedback from mentors and teachers with this goal in mind. I will also maintain behavioural logs to track classroom trends and keep reflective journals throughout the year to evaluate the effectiveness of differentiated instruction. Additionally, I will gather and revise lesson plans to highlight areas for improvement, include differentiation notes, and collect a broader range of student work samples as I build a library of exemplars.

Foster the development of 21st-century skills through inquiry-based learning and projects.

Activities:
I will implement design-build projects that encourage media-based, hands-on learning. I plan to read literature on sensory-based learning and integrate tactile and tectonic components into the classroom to create stronger connections between students and their learning. I will also begin building a material library that students can access for their projects.

Evidence:
Student projects will serve as key evidence for this goal. I will photograph, record, and analyze these artifacts to understand the students' processes and sensory engagement. I will also include student reflections to help them consider additional components to incorporate. A bibliography of readings on sensory development and tectonic learning will be maintained for further reference.

Professional Learning Plan Goal #3: Strengthen communication skills and provide clear, explicit instruction and feedback

Activities:
To improve clarity in instruction, I will practice delivering lessons using scripts and pre-prepared resources such as explanatory YouTube videos. I will seek peer critiques of my lessons before presenting them and ask mentors or supervising teachers for feedback on the clarity and delivery of my instruction.

Evidence:
I will keep records of lesson delivery through note-taking apps or video recordings. Student feedback—whether written, verbal, or collected through short reflection tasks—will provide insight into how well they understood the lesson and what steps they need to take next. Feedback from peers, mentors, and supervising teachers will also be documented.
